About this deal

As the guitar and solo horn pipe up through the left speaker, Mick Jagger’s voice joins us with a pleasing central placement. TUK comes with a remote so you can toggle inputs, and adjust bass/treble, volume level, even left and right channel balance with ease, just like the Kanto YU6 and SYD I previously reviewed.

It’s an expansive mix where Mitchell’s vocal seems as close to our ear as she intended, but we’re missing her vocal strength through the lower registers. Add to it Wayne Shorter's impressive sax playing, and arguably Steve Gaddis' single best recorded performance of all time on drums. The TUKs were not only up for the task, but handled the track with an amount of restraint and poise I was not quite expecting.

So whether you are after a full surround sound system, a new TV or a pair of headphones, you can be sure you are in good hands. As I stated before, I credit the source material with this anomaly, rather than the speakers, because it was sporadic.

Quick, dynamic transients have more impact and accuracy, and TUK can play louder without introducing additional distortion. Having the YU6 as a near field setup at the other end of my listening room gave me an opportunity to directly compare the two speakers in real time. The TUK sports your standard RCA inputs in addition to dedicated Phono Pre-amp inputs (including RIAA equalisation), Optical (TOSLINK) and Bluetooth with Apt-X. If you’ve been following us on social media or have stopped by our booth at one of this year’s industry tradeshows, you’ve most likely seen TUK, our newest flagship speaker.

Many years designing and manufacturing OEM products for large consumer electronics companies gave them the passion and understanding they needed to create a new brand with outstanding potential. This input is the one I used the most, connecting to the Panasonic UB9000 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player’s optical output.

When you know the precise characteristics of the speakers you are trying to drive, it is much easier to make amplification for those exact speakers, the implementation of DSP to compensate any irregularities of the drivers, and their specifications.

Playing something like Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky sounds great, but it just doesn’t have the same scale and dynamics that some other speakers have. The integrated preamp eliminates the need for this, allowing you to plug your turntables directly into the speakers.

No problem -- I plugged my Polk DSW Pro 550 powered sub into the Tuk’s subwoofer output, engaged the 80Hz crossover, and did some balancing of levels. At the bottom right of the front baffle of the speaker containing the electronics is a volume knob that doubles as an input selector.Clean designs are a hallmark of Kanto Audio and, once installed on Kanto’s matching stands, I couldn’t help but stare and admire; the TUK is their most stunning work yet. Phono Stages: Paradox Pulse 70 Signature, Goldnote Pamphili , Blue Circle Fon Lo Thingee, Musical Fidelity V3Musical Surroundings Nova III with Linear Power Supply. Finance is only available to permanent UK residents aged 18+, subject to status, terms and conditions apply. This just confirms one of the many reasons that I use a Grant Fidelity tube driven headphone amplifier.
